$/FOOD TO THE HUNGRY
(draft 20130327 0116cet)

THE NUMBERS

- the world GDP is (at least) $70,000,000,000,000/year

- there are almost 1,000,000,000 people in the world who are so poor they're hungry. (every day 50,000 people die of poverty-related causes)

- if we give them 1% of the world's GDP, each hungry human gets $700/year. that is enough that THEY CAN EAT. thus we have a world in which every1 has enough to eat.

in the text below: "we" = the EFFECTIVE majority, made up of people AND their resources.
for example, if our town is made up of many who are "weak and poor," and few who are "strong and rich," if we build a bridge, it's because either the majority of people get the bridge built by virtue of their majority of the people, or the minority of people get the bridge built by virtue of their majority of the resources. or both. or a combo. (or, as grace slick might say, "we built this city on rock n roll")

"WHAT IF...?"

- we don't really have $/food for the hungry?

- we don't want to give $/food for the hungry?

- we want to give $/food to the hungry but some 3rd world militia or some "bad guys" would block/misappropriate the $/food intended for the hungry?
